Many People may say once before the 1994 volcano eruption, Rabaul Town has some of the finest hotel in the country. This is history and long gone only to be cherished and remembered but in today’s modern style hotel accommodation, Kokopo town is rising up with modern Hotels and Lodges.

The latest upcoming accommodation in town now is the Gazelle International Hotel [picture above] which is built on the former residence of Queen Emma who was widely known in the late 1870s. Kokopo Town also has some of the country’s finest hotel establishment with modern day rooms ranging from single budget to self contain bungalows. You have a wider choice to select between Kokopo Beach Hotel, Kokopo Village Resort, Rapopo Plantation Resort which is close to Tokua Airport, Seaview Beach Resort, and the Takubar Beach Resort.
Whereas modern hotel facilities such as swimming pools is not found on most hotel establishment in Kokopo and Rabaul [because of volcanic ash]. Visitors still have the choice of the nearby beautiful beaches. Please do ask your local host before taking a dip in the ocean.
Rabaul which is still remembered and known as the pearl of Pacific still has some of the former big name hotels such as the Kaivuna Resort Hotel, Rabaul Hotel and the Rabaul Travelodge.
