Services in East New Britain
Modern tourism amenities and recreation services are located in Rabaul and Kokopo Town. Other areas in the Gazelle and Pomio district in one way or other have limited tourism services. The local people are very friendly and they will easily wave to you and help you if you need assistance.

TOKUA AIRPORT
The new airport in East New Britain Province is located at Tokua which has a ten (10) minutes driving time to and from Kokopo, the Provincial Headquarters. Tokua Airport was funded by the Japanese Government as a gift to the East New Britain Provincial Government and the people of East New Britain Province after the twin volcanic eruptions in September 1994.
The National government has approved and declared Tokua as an International Airport in the New Guinea Islands Region. As a Regional International Airport, Tokua has become a regional hub which attracts international tourists to Rabaul from where they will be distributed to other provinces in the New Guinea Islands Region.
Air Niugini, the National Flag Carrier services Tokua Airport everyday from Mondays to Sundays.
Tokua Airport is also serviced by third level airlines which include:

- Islands Nation Air
- Other Private aircraft
SMALLER AIRSTRIPS
Apart from Tokua Airport, there are a number of airstrips which service rural areas in the Hinterland. In Pomio District, there are about four airstrips which are privately owned with the acceptance of Jacquinot Bay Airstrip in Palmalmal which is government owned and the biggest that can take Dash 7 planes. Jacquinot Bay Airstrip is also serviced by small third level airlines.
COMMUNICATIONS
Phones, Fax and internet services are also available in major hotels in Kokopo and Rabaul.
Mobile [GSM] phones service are also available and used in Rabaul, Kokopo and Kerevat in East New Britain Province. There are two providers of GSM service, Digicel and Bee Mobile.
There are also two major daily newspapers - The National and the Post Courier in English and are available weekdays (Monday – Friday).
